Joe Merino introduces a unique limited edition sweater made of Dutch wool: the Jan Merino. We developed and produced this sweater in collaboration with Joe Merino. You can order it via Joemerino.com
Since the late 1980s, Dutch wool is no longer used in the fashion industry. Due to the arrival of the so-called Fast Fasion, introduction of synthetics and the increasingly strict environmental requirements, it was no longer possible for Dutch farmers to supply wool in a profitable way, so that the wool industry from the Netherlands has virtually disappeared. The Knitwit Stable is committed to making sustainable processing and production of wool in the Netherlands possible, little by little. After all, wool is a strong, easy to recycle and biodegradable material.
With the introduction of the Jan Merino, Joe Merino supports the mission of The Knitwit Stable. Joe Merino is constantly working to make its production more sustainable in the field of animal welfare, working conditions, reducing the use of water and chemicals, transport, etc. In addition, Joe Merino is a strong advocate of slow fashion and reminds consumers of the importance of a conscious choice for quality and good maintenance so that the products last a long time and can be worn a lot. With the introduction of Jan Merino, Joe Merino takes another step in this process.
