The Felt is made with wool from the Dutch Kempian heath sheep. Due to the rise of synthetic materials, almost no Dutch wool has been used for about 30 years. As a result, the wool industry from the Netherlands has virtually disappeared. The Knitwit Stable is committed to making the sustainable processing and production of wool in the Netherlands possible again little by little. After all, wool is a strong, easily recyclable and biodegradable material.
The sheep of the grazing company De Wassum largely graze on protected heath areas in the Netherlands, which helps to keep the landscape fertile.
In the felt you can still find pieces of grass and other vegetable materials, these will remind you of the grazing on the fields.
By making this design felt we contribute to the use of Dutch wool.
