Wool made from 100% Dutch Merino

Dutch merino lont

Our Dutch merino roving wool is soft, supple and of high quality. Merino wool naturally has a much finer fiber than traditional Dutch wool. Our merino roving wool has a quality of 21 micron, which ensures a soft, non-itchy wool that can also be worn directly on the skin.

Our merino sheep are kept with care and are non-mulesed: we only work with animal-friendly wool, without painful interventions. Wool is also a smart natural product: the fibers breathe, are elastic, temperature-regulating and can absorb up to 30% moisture without feeling clammy. This means merino keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer.

Wool is naturally antibacterial, self-cleaning, fire-retardant and fully biodegradable — one of the most sustainable fibers available, directly from Dutch land.

Quality

The quality of wool is often expressed in microns. A micron is a unit that measures the thickness of a wool fiber.
Wool with a micron count lower than 26 is considered very soft and wearable on the skin. From 30 microns upwards, it is considered coarse wool, but that certainly doesn't mean the quality is lower or that it cannot be used for clothing.

This Merino roving has a micron count of 21, so it is super soft and suitable to wear directly on the skin.

Merino Roving from 100% Dutch Merino Sheep

The special properties of Dutch merino wool

The fibre of merino sheep wool is much finer and therefore softer than the wool of traditional Dutch sheep. Wool adapts to its environment. Wool fibres are elastic and have excellent moisture-regulating properties. This wool cools in summer and warms in winter, is highly resistant to bacteria, is fire-retardant and biodegradable. This roving has a micron count of 21, which makes it wonderfully soft. The wool is undyed, giving it its natural white colour. Washing, carding and combing are done according to the GOTS standard. This means that the amount of harmful chemicals has been reduced to a minimum.
