The MOLWOL x Knitwit duvet

Experience the ultimate comfort of the MOLWOL x Knitwit duvet, filled with wool from Kempen Heath sheep that graze freely on heathlands and along canals, contributing to healthy biodiversity and a vibrant landscape. Locally produced with care for people, animals, and nature, this duvet offers the perfect combination of warmth, softness, and a natural night's sleep.

Each duvet is carefully crafted with airy wool flocks that feel light and enveloping, allowing you to sink into a warm bed. The wool is thermoregulating and self-cleaning, absorbs and wicks away moisture, and feels antibacterial and fresh. Moreover, the duvet is sustainable and fully biodegradable. This way, you sleep under a duvet that feels good not only for you, but also for the world around you: a night's sleep that is conscious, warm, and natural.

Complete your bed: you can also buy a matching pillow, including a filling bag, so you can completely tailor your sleeping comfort.

Kempen Heath sheep

The soft and high-quality wool from which this blanket is made comes from the Kempen Heath sheep.

Kempen Heath sheep, with their thick, woolly coats, are more than just grazers; they are the silent protectors of the natural landscape.

Grazing ensures that the heathland remains rich in herbs and vital, and that young trees remain short. The sheep's fleeces spread the seeds of spent herbs to new growth sites, and their manure stimulates soil life. In this way, Kempen Heath sheep play a crucial role in maintaining the natural balance in valuable nature reserves.

Choose your duvet

Our collection consists of two variants:

The single duvet (140 x 220 cm) and the double duvet (220 x 240 cm).

Maintenance

Wool is self-cleaning: washing is unnecessary

Wool contains lanolin, making it dirt-repellent and antibacterial. With every wash, wool loses some of this lanolin, and thus its self-cleaning properties. It also becomes drier and stiffer. Regularly shaking and airing your duvet is enough to keep it fresh and springy.

Ideally, open your duvet every morning to air it out. If it's foggy or there's morning dew, freezing, or snow, simply hang your wool duvet outside. Wool fibers open and self-clean in these conditions. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent the wool from drying out!

Freshen up your duvet with natural products

Want to give your duvet an extra freshening? Sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) over it, let it sit for a few hours, and then shake or vacuum it out. Baking soda helps neutralize odors without damaging the wool. Airing it outside for a few hours in foggy or cold weather is also an excellent way to naturally clean and freshen your duvet.

How does the self-cleaning ability of the wool fiber work?

This is due to condensation. The lanolin is a layer on top of the wool fiber. Dirt adheres to the wool fiber. Thanks to the lanolin, the dirt stays on the surface and doesn't penetrate deeper into the fiber. Moisture does the same and also adheres to the wool fiber. This moisture absorbs the dirt and then evaporates. The dirt evaporates along with the moisture and disappears from the wool. This is all a natural process!
