De Pienis a beautiful throw, made from the soft lamb's wool of the Kempisch Heath Sheep. The wool is carefully collected at the landscape management company De Wassum.

Although this wool is often considered a waste product in the Netherlands, The Knitwit Stablegives it new life. Through local processing and artisanal production, a sustainable and fair product is created, with respect for animals, nature, and craftsmanship.

De Pien feels wonderfully warm and soft, perfect for snuggling up on the couch or as a stylish addition to your interior.

All our products are developed and knitted in our mini-factory in Baambrugge.

The special properties of Dutch wool and alpaca

Wool from the traditional Dutch sheep is characterised by its coarser appearance due to its thicker wool fibres. Alpaca wool is light, super soft and strong. This is a perfect match. Wool fibres are very elastic and have moisture-regulating properties. Wool cools in summer and warms in winter, is very resistant to bacteria, is fire-retardant and biodegradable. Wool has self-cleaning properties and therefore hardly needs washing. Airing is often more than enough.

 Choose your color and size

The Pien is available in five colours: off-white, sand, dark blue, dark grey, and green.

You can choose between 130 × 180 cm or 130 x 200 cm.

This product is developed and produced at our farm and mini-factory in Baambrugge. We use wool from Dutch sheep and deliberately produce in small batches.

Due to small-scale production, an item may occasionally be temporarily out of stock.

Pien Plaid made from Kempisch Heath Sheep Wool

The Pien is a plaid available in two qualities: Kempisch Heath Sheep and Dutch Merino. This Pien is largely made from lamb's wool from the Kempisch Heath Sheep. The wool is collected from the landscape management company De Wassum. The wool of the Kempisch Heath Sheep is considered a waste product in the Netherlands, but The Knitwit Stable is able to use and process it into high-quality products.
