Wool Weekend

Vol van Wol weekend

Wool-filled weekend

Come to the Openluchtmuseum on June 8th and 9th to join The Knitwit Stable for a captivating program where we explore the various stages of the wool production process. Discover how raw wool is cleaned and transformed into fine yarns. And see how these yarns are used to create beautiful knitwear!

Meet us at the wool market where we will show how the processing and production of Dutch wool is possible. And also meet designers and artists such as Beatrice Waanders and Roua Atelier who will be showcasing their work here.

Both days will feature lectures by, among others, Stijntje Jaspers, of the Fibershed, on the value of wool.

Come and visit us and discover the timeless connection between people and nature.
Or simply come for a beautiful ball of Dutch wool from The Knitwit Stable.

Kid Mohair

This is Bella, she was one of the first goats born this spring. Our goats are shorn for the first time when they are between six and twelve months old, then the wool is called Kid mohair. The wool of the goats has very fine, long fibers, making the mohair super soft and light. It is shiny like silk and does not felt, retaining its hairiness. Perfect for sweaters and accessories worn directly against the skin.
In the Netherlands, there are a number of Angora goat breeders, and we are one of them! The Knitwit Stable was founded after the arrival of Billy & Betsie, and we now have about 25 goats roaming around.
Do you knit yourself and want to get started with these beautiful yarns? Check out the yarns on our website.

The Knitwit Stable participates in the Knits and Now event!

We are excited to announce that The Knitwit Stable is a co-sponsor of this year's Knits and Now event!
This crafting event is organized by Knits and Notes together with Sewing Café de Steek.
This is the perfect opportunity to come together, learn new techniques, and get inspired in the world of knitting.

During the event, we will give a demonstration on the knitting machine. You can also feel and buy yarn made from Dutch wool to knit with yourself.
And of course, we would like to invite you to one of our workshops where we will guide you step-by-step in making a hat or shawl.

The Zus is an intricately knitted tank top with chevron and cable designs, made from local Dutch wool blended with soft alpaca and merino.

This blend of fibers gives the Zus a unique mix of properties: the Dutch wool has a sturdier appearance which is then softened by the addition of alpaca and merino. This tank top has a V-neck and is ideal for layering.

Made to order & custom-made
When you order your Zus tank top, we will start working on it right away and will have it made within 3-4 weeks.
You can also specify special wishes if you would like your tank top to be slightly longer or shorter, so your tank top is perfectly custom-made.
