The lambs are growing fast, and almost all pregnant ewes have now given birth. Only one goat is yet to lamb. Spring has clearly begun on the farm – and that applies to our activities beyond it too.
This month we're sharing some special milestones: an international exhibition during Design Week in Milan, a recent television broadcast about our work, and the launch of a unique accommodation right in the landscape of our farm.
In short: enough news to warm you up, even if it's still chilly outside.
BinnensteBuiten
On April 10, The Knitwit Stable was featured in an episode of BinnensteBuiten. Sustainable lifestyle expert Marieke Eyskoot visited our location in Baambrugge, where Reina works with her sheep and goats to create a transparent and fair wool chain.
During the recording – which took place on March 11 – Reina showed what the process from sheep to sweater looks like. From shearing the animals to carefully processing the wool. Marieke followed the entire process and gave viewers an insight into how local, animal-friendly wool production truly works.

Put fast fashion out of fashion!
As a farm and mini-factory, we see the value of natural fibers every day: they are renewable, biodegradable, and can be produced locally. Yet, European policy is not expected to change, and synthetic fibers with a much greater environmental impact remain untouched.
This is not only unfair, it also hinders genuine sustainability. Because if you use your common sense, renewable materials that are sustainable and biodegradable should always be preferred over synthetic materials that will remain on earth for centuries.
Therefore, sign this petition from Make The Label Count – it will take you less than a minute, but it helps to make a stand against fast fashion.

Spring Cardigan Dory and Douwe
These are our Dory and Douwe, perfect cardigans for the typical Dutch spring weather where we constantly have to put something on and take it off again. The Dory is knitted with fine yarn spun from the mohair of our Angora goats. Available in a short version (as pictured) but also in a longer version. The Douwe is a chunky knitted cardigan with buttons made of 60% local Dutch sheep's wool mixed with 20% soft alpaca and 20% merino. For colors and more information, check out our webshop!
The Dutch in Milano
Milan Design Week is over! Together with Sjaar Van Beek from Landschapsbeheer de Wassum, Anne Boerman, and Bianca Zomer from Zeefier, we presented our Dutch Wool & Seaweed carpet, made from Kempisch heath sheep wool dyed with seaweed, and the AaBe x Knitwit blanket as part of the ROOTS Exhibition by Simone van Es🌱, in the magnificent Palazzo Giureconsulti.
Through collaboration across the entire supply chain – from farmers to manufacturers, from designers to builders – we create a path to sustainable innovation. This exhibition is a powerful statement and should become a new standard in sustainable design 🌱♻️
