Autumn at The Knitwit Stable
Autumn has arrived, and at The Knitwit Stable, that means it's time to dive back into wool.
As the days get shorter and the air crisper, the pace here also changes. The sheep and goats slowly grow their winter coats back, a beautiful sight every day that reminds us of the natural cycle of the year.
Everything slows down outside, but inside, the knitting machines are running at full speed. We are working on new designs that will soon be available on the website. For us, autumn is all about development: new products, new materials, and new awareness.
A season in which we build on the future of local and fair knitting.
World Wool Forum
In early October, Reina was a guest at the World Wool Forum, where she gave a presentation on the short chain, local production, and the importance of transparency in the wool industry. It was a great opportunity to show how we at The Knitwit Stable are working towards a fairer system, from animal to finished product and ultimately from soil to soil.
This coming Sunday, October 19, Reina will speak about this topic again during the free online seminar of the World Wool Forum. Everyone who is interested is welcome to participate!
In the Spotlight
Meet the Jonas: a unisex skipper sweater with a high, ribbed collar and a robust, dark zipper. Made from Dutch merino wool, wonderfully soft on the skin, non-itchy, and holds its shape beautifully.
At The Knitwit Stable, we develop and knit all our products in our mini-factory in Baambrugge, with care and attention. The merino wool largely comes from the Netherlands and is spun and dyed in Italy.
The Jonas is a timeless sweater that is comfortable, stylish, and fair. Many customers wear it intensively every winter, and if it's truly beyond repair after years, they simply order a new one — sometimes in a different color. We consider that perhaps the greatest compliment one can receive.
Bets Scarf Workshop
Last chance this year!
Due to many requests, we are organizing one more Bets scarf workshop.
During this workshop, you will learn to knit your own scarf on a hand-knitting machine. No experience is necessary; we will guide you step by step.
When: Friday, November 14
In one afternoon, you will knit your own scarf from Dutch kid mohair — super soft with a beautiful natural sheen. A perfect workshop as a Christmas gift or just to treat yourself. Sign up quickly, as spots are limited!

Dutch Design Week
Panel with Claudy Jongstra
During the upcoming Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, we will once again be participating.
Reina will participate in a panel discussion with Claudy Jongstra about regenerative practices in the wool industry and the challenges involved. It will be an open discussion where knowledge and experiences are shared, with the aim of inspiring others about the future of wool and more sustainable production.

The discussion will be hosted by Haiko Huvenaars from New Order of Fashion.

Behind every thread and every sweater at The Knitwit Stable is a team of passionate makers. In upcoming newsletters, we would like to take you behind the scenes and introduce you to the people who work with heart and soul on our mission: honest, local wool and clothing with character.
In this edition, we speak with Erica, our knitting specialist. She has been a permanent member of the team since 2019. What started as a temporary position grew into a versatile role where technique, craftsmanship, and love for wool come together.
In the knitting factory in Baambrugge, Erica works daily on our collection, develops new knits, and shares her knowledge during workshops and masterclasses. We spoke to her about her work, her background, and what appeals to her so much about knitting — both by hand and by machine.
