Fitting Morning

It's wonderful to have a sweater that fits perfectly. We organize fitting mornings so you can try on different sizes and see if the standard model of the sweater fits. All our products are made-to-order, which means we can make the model shorter or longer so the sweater fits perfectly!

This upcoming Saturday, January 21st, we are organizing another fitting morning. You are welcome to visit our farm in Baambrugge from 10:00 to 14:00. During the fitting morning, you can meet the animals and take a look at our mini-factory! Send an email to info@theknitwitstable.nl if you would like to attend the fitting morning. If you can't make it, we also have fitting mornings on February 11th and February 25th!

Warm Sweater Day

February 10th is Warm Sweater Day! Warm Sweater Day is a great initiative to inspire as many people as possible to turn down the heating and put on a warm sweater. A good resolution for 2023, we think!

Every year, hundreds of thousands of Dutch people actively sign up for Warm Sweater Day under the motto 'warm yourself, not the world'. Ask the people around you to join in: colleagues, friends, neighbours, family, because saving energy together creates energy!

Masterclass From Goat to Garment

Our farm and knitting studio is the only initiative in the Netherlands that covers the entire production chain of a sweater: from keeping the animals, processing Dutch wool into yarns, to the production of a locally and fairly made woolen end product. To make this process transparent, we organize masterclasses. In this full-day masterclass, you will not only receive all information about the journey from animal to garment, but you will also go home with your self-knitted hat made of Dutch wool! We organize masterclasses for individuals and professionals!

  • February 10th - masterclass for individuals
  • February 24th (*ENGLISH) - masterclass for professionals & students
  • March 11th - masterclass for individuals

Send an email to info@theknitwitstable.nl to sign up for our masterclass.

About the masterclass

Knit your own mohair wrap!

In addition to the masterclasses we organize, we now also offer a workshop to knit your own wrap on a knitting machine!

This wonderfully warm and soft wrap is made from mohair wool from young Dutch goats. Mohair has the additional characteristic of a beautiful sheen and is super soft, light, and durable due to its hairy texture. In our workshop, we provide instructions for knitting this wrap in dark grey and dark blue! The cost of this workshop is €195, and you will go home with your self-knitted mohair wrap.

This workshop takes place on February 9th from 13:00 to 17:00.
Would you like to learn how to knit this wrap?
Send an email to info@theknitwitstable.nl. No experience is necessary!

On this day, you will learn how to dye with local plants, a vegan meal will be provided, and there will be a New Year's reception. The day concludes with a lecture on wool. Both Reina Ovinge from The Knitwit Stable in Baambrugge and Bertina Slettenhaar from Almeerse WolUnie will talk about wool as a natural raw material, its connection to nature, and shed light on the story behind the fashion industry.

How can clothing be greener?

NRC publishes an interesting series of articles 'How clothing can be greener'. More than 100 billion new garments end up in wardrobes worldwide every year. At the same time, consumers discard 92 million tons of textiles annually. This makes the clothing industry one of the most polluting sectors in the world. In this special, NRC investigates the fashion industry. How can things be improved in the clothing chain, from the drawing board to the store and ultimately the landfill?
