Summer Greetings
After a short summer break, our newsletter is back. But of course, we haven't been idle in recent weeks at our mini-factory in Baambrugge. We are ready for the new season and are excited about it! From now on, we will be back monthly with updates from The Knitwit Stable. Don't want to miss anything? Day of Wool and the Fibershed route

The Day of Wool is approaching! October 8th is the day, when the 14th edition of The Day of Wool will be held in Boxtel. There is a lot happening in the field of wool and this day offers a broad overview of the applications of wool in the Netherlands. We will be present and look forward to meeting you.
Additionally, on October 22nd, it's the National Fibershed Route. Fibershed Netherlands invites students and their families to visit local initiatives and innovative entrepreneurs from the Dutch Farm-to-Fashion circle. We are also part of this, and we will fill this day in our own unique way. More information can be found on the Fibershed Netherlands website via the link below. Mark October 8th and 22nd in your calendar?
The Woolmark Company

From sheep to retailers, merino wool embarks on a unique journey, transforming the original sustainable fiber into a luxurious end product. Merino wool is durable, all-natural, renewable, and biodegradable, making it a unique material. The video below from The Woolmark Company clearly explains the entire wool production process. How long does it take to make a sweater?
We would like to share with you how our process works. How exactly is a sweater made and how long does it take? Making a sweater takes a full workday, about 8 hours. First, the sweater is knitted on the knitting machine, which takes 2 hours. Then, the sweater is assembled on the linking machine. This takes about 3 hours. Once the sweater is assembled, we neatly finish the threads, after which the sweater is washed and dried. These 8 hours do not include making the yarn, but this also takes time. For example, maintaining the animals, shearing, sorting, and preparing for transport. We do not wash, card, comb, and spin the yarn ourselves, but in a factory in Northern Italy. This also takes time. All in all, a considerable amount of time and love goes into the sweaters.
Warm into winter with the Jet

Our Jet is a wonderfully warm, soft, loose-fitting plain cardigan made from honest mohair wool from Dutch goats. This wool doesn't itch, which makes it so pleasant. Due to the hairy texture of this wool, it is super soft, light, and durable. The wool cools in summer and warms in winter (the heating can even be turned down a degree), is resistant to bacteria, fire-retardant, and biodegradable. Through our made-to-order principle, we lovingly create your cardigan entirely to your wishes. You can choose between 7 colors, and the buttons are also up to you.
Our Dutch alpaca wool

Alpaca wool is a wonderfully light yarn consisting of a brushed thick thread. The colors off-white and camel are the natural colors of the alpaca. The other colors are GOTS certified dyed. We currently only have our alpaca yarn available on the website for makers, but we have been working incredibly hard this summer to do something else with alpaca wool. Curious about what? Keep an eye on our socials and the newsletter, something exciting is coming!
