The world behind your sweater?

After a period in which masterclasses were not possible due to the measures, we can now offer new masterclasses again!

A new sweater is often bought quickly. But what world is hidden behind your wool sweater? At our farm with knitting studio, we will introduce you to the production process of your sweater and you will get to work yourself. On Saturday, March 26th and April 2nd, we have masterclasses for individuals. On Friday, April 1st, we have masterclasses for professionals in the fashion industry. Sign up via info@theknitwitstable.nl or click below for more information.

Lambing season

The lambing season has begun. In March, Abel, Joop, Jaap, Berend, and Bart have been born so far. More sheep and goats are due in the coming weeks.

Sheep and goats are pregnant for about 146 days. Around this time, sheep farmers often get little sleep. We also monitor pregnant ewes at night to see if they are doing well and if we can offer help. When the lambs are born, the lamb must find the mother's udder within half an hour to get the first milk. Colostrum is the first mother's milk and is essential for intake. Lambs do not have their own antibodies, and this is how they receive them to grow healthily.

Cradle blanket with knitted-in name

A beautiful custom-made cradle blanket, knitted in our mini-factory in Baambrugge. Choose a name to have immortalized in the knitwear of this super soft blanket.

Cradle blanket Keesje is made from 100% Dutch Merino wool. This fiber from the wool of Merino sheep is much thinner and therefore very soft. The wool cools in summer and warms in winter, is very resistant to bacteria, is fire-retardant, and biodegradable. In addition, wool has a self-cleaning ability and therefore hardly needs to be washed. This way, the blanket will last a very long time.
