Wool matters
Last week, The Knitwit Stable was present at the Sustainable Wool and Cotton event in Brussels. Together with Lesley Prior, a farmer of fantastic Merino sheep in the United Kingdom, and Dalena White, Secretary-General of IWTO, we lobbied for sustainable wool. Our goal is to ensure that wool gets its rightful place in the upcoming EU textile legislation. Due to new EU laws, there is a good chance that wool will get a bad name, even though it is a sustainable product. The video below shows why wool is so important for improving our environment. Crib Blanket Keesje

Our soft baby blanket: Keesje. A beautiful, custom-made blanket of 100% Dutch Merino wool. Because wool adapts to its environment, this blanket is wonderfully warm in winter and cooling in summer. Perfect as a maternity gift or of course for your own baby. Choose a name to immortalize in the knits of this soft blanket. A gift for life.
P+ Circular Lookbook

The Knitwit Stable is featured in the new episode of the P+ Circular Lookbook, in collaboration with Stichting Doen. Here we talk about how we process our wool from Merino sheep and Angora goats and how wool is now practically seen as waste. A lot of Dutch wool is now taken to the landfill, where it is incinerated. The more successful our range is, the more wool from other Dutch sheep farmers we can process. Want to know more? Click on the link below.
Merino roving

For the makers among us, we now have new Dutch merino roving in our webshop. This is roving wool from our Dutch merino sheep. The fiber of the wool from these sheep is much thinner and therefore softer than the wool from traditional Dutch sheep. This wool is elastic and has a high moisture-regulating capacity. It is also fire-resistant, biodegradable, and very resistant to bacteria.
Presentation to alpaca wool processors in Peru

The Knitwit Stable was invited to give a presentation to alpaca farmers in Peru. We shared our views on traceability and transparency and how we approach this at The Knitwit Stable. Exchanging ideas on how sustainability can be further shaped in the wool industry was very inspiring!
