AaBe x Knitwit blanket & plaid
Who hasn't slept under one?
The Knitwit Stable proudly presents the renewed AaBe blanket, an heirloom that has symbolized warmth, durability, and timelessness in Dutch households since 1929. This sustainable variant, made from wool of Kempische Heath Sheep, will be unveiled during the Dutch Design Week from October 19 to October 27, 2024, in Eindhoven. With this project, we continue the rich tradition of the AaBe blanket, now in a fully traceable and biodegradable version.
For generations, the AaBe blanket provided warmth and security in countless Dutch homes. The Knitwit Stable has picked up the thread again and revitalized the AaBe blanket with respect for tradition and a focus on sustainability.
Besides the AaBe x Knitwit blanket, we have also developed a plaid.
We only have 150 blankets and plaids. You can place a pre-order now. We will send the blanket or plaid from October 25th...
Podcast
In August, Bianca Streng visited us. The Circular Fashion Podcast is the podcast for fashion professionals and leaders in the textile industry who want to know everything about the new standard, a circular textile chain by 2050. Bianca spoke with Reina about her journey from a fast fashion production company to a regenerative sheep and goat farm. The podcast lasts 45 minutes.
Dutch Design Week:
The Knitwit Stable x Zeefier
Besides the AaBe x Knitwit blanket, we will also be at Dutch Design Week with a collaboration with Zeefier!
Zeefier is an innovative Dutch company that produces sustainable dyes based on seaweed. The company aims for an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional dyes in the textile industry. Zeefier works with seaweed and also utilizes residual streams, such as waste from the cosmetics industry and washed-up seaweed from beaches. By using these residual streams, Zeefier converts materials that would otherwise be lost into high-quality, natural dyes.
Our first joint project, the carpet 'From Dutch Wool and Seaweed', showcases the power of local resources and industrial craftsmanship, with innovation and respect for local communities, animals, and the sea at its core.
