The Lars is a warm unisex beanie that is fully ribbed for a comfortable fit. This hat is made of 100% merino that is not itchy and keeps you warm in winter, even when it is damp. Most of our merino comes from the Netherlands and is spun and dyed in Italy. All our products are developed and knitted in our mini factory in Baambrugge.

The special properties of merino wool

Merino is an adaptable natural fiber that comes from the merino sheep. Compared to traditional Dutch wool, merino’s fibers are much thinner and therefore softer. For this reason, merino has many characteristics that make it wonderful for all kinds of garments. Not only is the merino soft but it also doesn’t itch or wrinkle. Garments made from merino are very breathable, meaning that they stay cool in the summer and keep you warm in the winter even when damp. Additionally merino has antibacterial properties so garments hardly need to be washed; airing them out is often more than enough. This way your favorite sweater will last for generations.

Our merino is sustainably sourced from our own merino sheep as well as other Dutch merino farmers. All the merino farmers we source from are vetted by The Knitstable Stable. Additionally all of our merino hasn’t been chemically treated like superwash which preserves the natural look of merino for our garments.

Choose your color and size

You can choose from four colors for this beanie: dark blue, dark gray, light gray and sand. The sand is the natural color of the merino wool and not dyed. All yarns of our synthetic colors are washed and dyed according to the GOTS standard. This means that the amount of harmful chemicals has been reduced to a minimum.

The Lars is 28 cm long including the folded brim that is 10 cm. When the brim is folded, the total length of the beanie is 22 cm. The width is 22cm.
