The Dien is a women's cardigan made of local Dutch wool mixed with alpaca and merino. This mix of fibers gives the Dien unique properties: the Dutch wool has a tougher appearance, which is then softened by the addition of alpaca and merino. This cardigan has a V-neck and comes comfortably below the hips, ideal as an extra layer during the colder months. The sleeves of the Dien are finished with a modern cable stitch. It also has handy buttons and pockets.

The special properties of Dutch wool and alpaca

Wool from Dutch sheep is not often seen in clothing production, even within the Netherlands. Dutch wool is characterized by a tougher appearance due to its coarser fibers and hence is seen as too rough and itchy to wear against the skin. This view has led to the devaluation of Dutch wool and the disappearance of the Dutch wool industry altogether.

In our products, we utilize this overlooked local resource by looking for varieties with a lower itch factor as well as combining our Dutch wool with other fibers like merino and alpaca. This mix of fibers allows our products to have the traditional appearance of Dutch wool while adding a level of softness.

Additionally alpaca is hypoallergenic and has antibacterial properties so garments hardly need to be washed; airing them out is often enough. This way your garment will last for generations.

Choose your color and your size

For this vest you can choose from four colours: dark blue, off-white, taupe and sand. The sand and off-white are the natural colour of the Dutch wool and not dyed. All yarns of our synthetic colours are washed and dyed according to the GOTS standard. This means that the amount of harmful chemicals is reduced to a minimum.

In size medium the length of the vest (from the highest shoulder point) is 80 cm and the chest width is 52 cm. The sleeve length of the Dien is (from center back) 79 cm.

Made to order

We work according to the made-to-order principle. This means that we only start producing your item after your order. The delivery time is 2-4 weeks. But we promise you: it's worth the wait. And the great thing about this: you can also specify your wishes if you want the item to be made a little shorter or longer, for example.
