The special properties of Dutch wool and alpaca

Wool from Dutch sheep is not often seen in clothing production, even within the Netherlands. Dutch wool is characterized by a tougher appearance due to its coarser fibers and hence is seen as too rough and itchy to wear against the skin. This view has led to the devaluation of Dutch wool and the disappearance of the Dutch wool industry altogether.

In our products, we utilize this overlooked local resource by looking for varieties with a lower itch factor as well as combining our Dutch wool with other fibers like merino and alpaca. This mix of fibers allows our products to have the traditional appearance of Dutch wool while adding a level of softness.

Choose your color and your size

For this spencer you can choose from four colours: dark blue, off-white, taupe and sand. The sand and off-white are the natural colour of the Dutch wool and not dyed. All yarns of our synthetic colours are washed and dyed according to the GOTS standard. This means that the amount of harmful chemicals is reduced to a minimum.

This spencer is semi-fitted, falls to the waistband and has a collar (13 cm). In size small/medium the length of the spencer (from the highest shoulder point) is 56 cm and chest width 45 cm.

Made to order

We work according to the made-to-order principle. This means that we only start producing your item after your order. The delivery time is 2-4 weeks. But we promise you: it's worth the wait. And the great thing about this: you can also specify your wishes if you want the item to be made a little shorter or longer, for example.

This blend of fibres gives the Wies unique properties: the Dutch wool has a tougher look, which is then softened by the addition of alpaca and merino. This spencer features a high collar that is not too high. The Wies is 3D knitted, combining old craftsmanship with new innovation.
